July 2026 Project FarHaven Playtest Quickstart Guide
We're thrilled to invite you to join our pre-alpha playtest, and to make your experience better, we've provided the Quickstart guide below. The Read Me has additional information about the game.
There is now a Main Menu in game - hit ESC to access, you can get to all the key systems and screens from there.
NEW to this release!
- Farming and Fishing! Pick up your tools in the chest outside of Town Hall
- Farming works on plots of land you own (buy in Town Hall); only the owner can harvest, but everyone can work together to weed and water!
- Leveling - Jobs and stats improve as you advance - don't forget to spend your skill points.
- Bolt-ons - You can now add decoration to the outside of your house.
- Adventure Visual Upgrades
- Relationship Screen - track your relationship with the NPCs you've met and their likes and dislikes
- Refiner queuing - you can now add more than one job at a time.
- Want to use tools before you clear the zone? You can! But that Flimsy Pickaxe ain't doing anything against that Adult VineBiter, so remember to switch back to your weapon before attacking!
Multiplayer Setup (FarHaven is best when played with friends, but you don't all have to play at the same time!)
- You must be Steam or Discord friends with someone to invite them into a multiplayer game. To get the invite IN GAME, they also have to have connected their account to the game.
- To connect Project FarHaven to Discord (optional for those using Steam for multiplayer sessions) you can:
- From the main game menu, select the pencil icon in the upper right (left-click or press start on a controller).
- OR: In Game on the Settings screen (esc then Settings), select the Discord logo and choose Connect (left-click or A on a controller). A Discord overlay will appear; scroll to the bottom and authorize.
- One person begins a multiplayer game by choosing New Game from the Multiplayer option in the Main Game start screen and giving it a name.
- Invite your friends!
- Open the Main Menu (esc) and you will see a menu for inviting friends via Steam or Discord. Click your friends in the list that pops up. If they have connected their account to the game, they will get an invite in game to join you. Otherwise, it will go to their Steam/Discord DMs with you.
- For future play sessions, people can rejoin the game directly from the Multiplayer option in the Main Game start screen. Up to 16 players may join a single town.
Notes and Help
- The tutorial is a single player experience until you build the Town Hall. When you complete the Town Hall, you'll be placed in the multiplayer town. Each person must complete the tutorial, but once you are done, you can keep playing with all the people who are also finished.
- To move items from your inventory to your HotBar:
- On keyboard and mouse, press "I" to open Inventory and drag the item from inventory to the HotBar. Drag and drop also works to move items to and from the chest and within the HotBar.
- On controller, press Select to bring up the inventory and highlight the item you would like to move, then highlight where you would like to move it to and press A.
- When adventuring, we strongly recommend adventuring with friends! Bring friends to Ronni's Mist Gate and press F (or A on controller) to start the adventure. As you proceed from room to room in the adventure, you must all be on the same gate to proceed to the next room. If you aren't proceeding, check the diamonds above the gate to be sure all are green. (Also, all monsters in a room must be killed before you can exit.) Up to four may adventure at a time. Don't forget to invite NPCs to adventure with you if you don't have a full team. Known Bug: In an adventure, all NPCs appear as Groghan.
- When crafting, we strongly recommend using X to add a bonus ingredient. Bonus ingredients add surprising effects to your armor and weapons; experimenting can be both fun and an easy way to boost your protection and damage at the start of the game.
- Decorations have dedicated storage so the player inventory isn't filled with couches, lamps, and unkillable houseplants. This is accessible from the inventory menu as separate tab.

Known Issue: Mac Users - the game will crash on exit due to a Unity bug. It won't hurt your saves or progress, so please ignore for the moment.
